In collaboration with COSMIC at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, I annotated cancer mutation data and created visualization interfaces that mapped these mutations onto 3D protein structures. This project increased our understanding of the cancer mutations that drive cancer progression, and suggested which mutations are likely to drive cell growth and proliferation. Furthermore, 3D modelling of cancer-associated mutations can highlight how amino acid changes impact the binding of existing drugs, and offers the potential of high-resolution mutation-guided drug discovery.
